Isle of Wight Freemasons Celebrate Armed Forces Weekend

Armed Forces Weekend

Armed Forces Weekend on the Island kicked off on Saturday with a dinner hosted by our Provincial Grand Master at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club. The dinner was attended by Island dignitaries including His Majesties Lord Lieutenant, the High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight and many others.

A reception was held on the lawn with canopies and bubbly served to all, whilst Abbey Brass provided superb musical entertainment.

During the evening the PGM addressed those present and presented a donation of £1000 to the Isle of Wight Armed Forces Day fund, which was greatly received by Councillor Ian Dore, Armed Forces Champion for the Isle of Wight Council.

Sunday is Armed Forces Day on the Island and veteran brethren, led by our Deputy Provincial Grand Master, marched with other veterans behind the banner of Vectis Services Lodge, the Islands Lodge for services brethren.

Also joining in the procession were members of the Serenity Lodge, the Islands Ladies Lodge, showing the greater ties between the two organisations.

There were displays by the Royal Navy Parachute Team and a Spitfire to keep all those who attended well entertained. A beautiful sunny day on Ryde seafront.

To keep cool, the brethren mustered at The Veteran Hotel and Pub for refreshments!

A perfect end to a most enjoyable weekend.
