I am frequently humbled by the determination and lengths to which brethren of our Province are willing to go in order to raise money for good causes.
Brother Jack Collins, the current Senior Deacon of Phoenix Lodge, set himself a huge challenge by attempting to run The Paddy Buckley Round. This is a historic mountain running challenge. It is a 70 mile course with over 30,000ft of elevation and takes in 47 of the highest peaks in Snowdonia. Paddy Buckley designed the course in the early 80’s and although Paddy never himself managed to complete the course he is still going strong, as is his eponymous round!
Jack is raising funds for the Hampshire MCF 2027. He carried out the run on the 12th July 2024, starting at 1200 from Capel Curig in Wales. He headed clockwise and wore a tracker which allowed people to follow him live. Below is the link to his donations page, some information on the Paddy Buckley Round and the tracking link.
Jack is a keen road and trail runner, who runs a local fell running club called ‘Southsea Fell Runners’. He is a GP, but when not working or spending time with his family he is usually running.
